Celebrating Empowerment on International Women’s Day

As we gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day, I found myself reflecting on the incredible journey of womanhood and the remarkable roles I embody mother, daughter, wife, and as the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Langley Willowbrook. Each of these identities shapes my perspective, fuels my passion for advocacy, and inspires my commitment to empowering the next generation of women.

A Mother’s Pride

My role as a mother is undoubtedly one of the most significant parts of my life. I am filled with pride as I watch my daughters grow into strong and capable young women. They are full of dreams and possibilities, and it is a privilege to walk beside them as they discover their own paths My hope is that they always embrace who they are, pursue their ambitions with courage, and continue breaking through every barrier placed before them.

A Daughter’s Legacy

As a daughter, I carry forward the values and lessons passed down by the women who came before me. My mother’s resilience and determination helped shape the path I walk today, and I strive to honour her legacy by being a strong role model for my own children. Women draw strength from one another, and I deeply value the bonds I share with the women in my family, whose encouragement continues to inspire and empower me.

Empowering My Community

As an MLA, I recognize the vital responsibility I hold in advocating for women’s rights and gender equality within our community. The future looks promising for our girls, and it is our duty to ensure that they have access to the resources, education, and opportunities they need to thrive. I am passionate about championing policies that promote women’s health, safety, and representation. Together, we can create a future where young girls grow up knowing they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

A Collective Strength

I encourage everyone to celebrate the women in your lives and recognize the strength and spirit they bring to our communities. Today is a time to lift one another up, stand together in support of our shared goals, and reaffirm our commitment to a future where every woman is free to pursue her dreams without limits.

I am proud of my daughters, proud of the women in my life, and proud to serve as their advocate. Together, let us continue to empower one another and work toward a more inclusive and equitable society. Today, we celebrate not only the achievements we have made, but the journey still ahead — one filled with potential, possibility, and the promise of even greater things to come.
